GPON system is an optical access system providing FTTH service quickly and inexpensively. G (Gigabit Ethernet) PON system is one of the newest PON systems Ethernet technologies.
The whole GPON system consists of GPON OLT (Optical Line Terminal), ONU (Optical Network Unit ( and fiber splitter.
OLT offers mostly 4 upstream port and 4 downstream.
GEPON port can connect 32 splitters in a Single fiber/WDM Fiber line, so a single OLT can support up to 128 ONU units.
The transmission distance of the system can reach up to 20Km.
GPON, the downstream rate on the fiber is 10 Gbps.
Upstream could be 1.25, 2.5, or 10 Gbps, and the higher the upstream rate, the higher the cost of solution.
